While some of us are still going to work or doing our shopping, all of us are quarantined to one degree or another. And all of us are impacted by the virus - some in minor ways and others in very major and life-changing ways. All of us are eagerly waiting for the immediate danger to pass so that we can go about our normal lives again. But we want to do more than simply wait for the trial to pass. James 1:2-4 advises to “count it all joy…when you meet trials of various kinds.” Why? Because trials are used by God to make us “perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” Rather than just waiting for this to be over, God has lessons he wants us to learn through it and ways he wants us to grow. Our goal as Christians going through trials is not just to survive but to thrive. To come out on the other side, stronger.
